I took a tuk tuk from my hotel in downtown Siem Reap. My tuk tuk driver (whom I hired for $15/day) waited for me while I toured the grounds. From the tuk tuk to the bridge leading to AW, I was confronted by tour guides , book sellers and other tuk tuk drivers. I politely refused all offers. Then the adventure began. The area is huge and I had to walk a lot. I imagined what it must have been like to live here 700 years ago. It was magnificient. After about 2 hours, I had had enough. After a 20 minute ride, I was back at my hotel for a shower and a snooze. I would love to go again someday!

From Siem Reap to Phnom Penh

Bang! A loud noise startled the passengers on the "V.I.P." (don't even think about using the toilet!) bus. Minutes before there was a bad smell, not from the toilet - like electrical wires burning. I was glad that we weren't riding in an airplane. After driving a few kms driving on the flat tire, the driver found a guy on the side of the road with the proper tools and equipment to change the tire. While waiting for the tire to be changed, I wandered around this was a poor and depressing place. No signs of luxury and affluence. I wondered what it would be like to live here someday.

I wonder how much that load of bricks cost. And what about the delivery charge? This seems like a scene from the 19th century. I wnted to follow the horse and cart to see where it was going and what the bricks were going to be used for.

Me and an Old Tree

While walking around downtown Phnom Penh, I stumbled across this bog old tree. It must have been one of the lucky ones to survive the axe.
